Make Do and Mend
It’s never too late to mend! Extend the life of your clothing and use items you already have to give them a refresh and a new lease on life.
Join Gail McCall and Laziza Hawkins on Wednesday afternoons at TACAS for a relaxed session of mending and community sewing and mending.
This is an opportunity to use beautiful vintage fabrics or threads to embellish clothing. You will have access to sewing machines and a selection of materials and embellishments available at TACAS.
Bring a project or two to finish, or an op shop treasure and some fabric scraps for an afternoon of merry making.

About Laziza
Laziza has always loved sewing, embroidery and creating things. She has always carried a bag of loose threads and fabrics since childhood and is never without a project. Laziza is experienced with adapting clothes to fit or just repurposing large clothing or household items.
Some of the things Laziza has mended includes darning socks or jumpers to extend their lives. She has also used incomplete hand knitted jumpers and upcycled felt blankets to make cushions.
About Gail
Gail McCall found textiles following the loss of her belongings in a bushfire in 1977. McCall’s completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2014 allowed her to step out of craft and into art.
McCall prefers to recycle and uses a treadle sewing machine. She loves the slow process of hand-making and is inspired when asked to make something for someone.
