TACAS Studio Community
Meet our members who rent space in the TACAS Studio
Gail McCall
Gail found textiles following the loss of all her belongings in a bushfire in 1977. Her completion of a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2014 allowed her to step out of craft into art. She doesn’t like to plan her projects and prefers to be surprised by the end result.
Gail loves the way things seem to make themselves in her hands. She prefers to re-cycle and uses a treadle sewing machine. She loves the slow process of hand-making and is inspired when asked to make something for someone.

Sandy Dunne
Sandy Dunne is constantly surprised at what she produces and the way an idea grows into something tangible that pleases or provokes. Sandy is a multi-disciplinary artist and teacher who continues to learn new skills and techniques as she finds the best way to explore a concept, make a comment, create.
She enjoys the challenge of using recycled materials, finding beauty in the natural world that she wants to protect for future generations. Sandy is inspired by the respectful, collaborative nature of TACAS and leads printmaking workshops, among others. She exhibits locally and online, and has work in private collections in Australia and overseas.
Ruth Shepherd
I love making stuff. I have a number of creative interests, like mosaics, drawing, sculpting, printing, digital art and making art from recycled bits and pieces. I came to art later in life, so I have a lot of catching up to do. I got a shot in the arm in 2017 when I did the NCAT Create visual art program. Now I just make stuff all the time.
I don’t plan my artwork too much. I love making stuff up as you go along, so most of my work is one-off, unless it’s a print or digital piece.
I love our art space in Heidelberg West. Sharing ideas with other artists and having a place to work is wonderful. Working together doing markets, Banyule festivals, exhibitions and workshops is terrific fun. So is when we can get together and eat, drink, and laugh.
Sheryl Bryce
Sheryl Bryce has been with TACAS from its beginnings at 601 Waterdale Road. She has roved on stilts at our markets and exhibitions wearing a costume made of recycled plastic shopping bags.
She is a visual and textile artist working across many disciplines including, painting, drawing, eco dyeing/ printing, making clothes and hats, creating books, wallets, earring hangers, keep cups etc from recycled or found materials.
Lisa Moore
Lisa is a multi-disciplinary artist working mainly with fabric. She loves shibori dyeing, eco printing, honeycomb mending and making messenger bags using amazing tea towel images.
She’s also an avid repairer/fixer and volunteers at a repair cafe.
Cathy Goucher
Cathy has been working with polymer clay since 2016. She enjoys creating one of a kind studio buttons and jewellery with this versatile medium. Her colourful intricate patterns are created using a variety of techniques. The endless possibilities of colour and pattern allow the expression of Cathy’s “inner colour” and ‘whimsy’.
Haruka Fujimoto
Haruka is a creator and a maker. Her interest in experimenting with fabric, stitching, weaving and the miniature started well before she graduated Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo and continues to this day.
Haruka established her studio Nuno Circle in 2008, creating accessories and objects using the Japanese Sashiko technique called Kogin. Her interest in upcycling both local and Japanese pre-loved materials and objects is very much in keeping with the Kogin philosophy.
Louise Muller
Louise has always had an inquisitive nature. With TACAS she is able to take the time to explore and expand her many interests. Originally concentrating on pastels and watercolours, Louise now works with oils, inks, print, stitch, eco printing, zen doodle, ceramics, felting, urban sketching, journaling and bookmaking. In our increasingly high-pressure world, it’s her opinion that everyone needs just a little time to be mindful and just create.
Kathy Gausden
Kathy is a textile artist specialising in the creative use of ties. She also makes origami decorations, hat furniture, embroidered decorations and mini paintings from cat food foil wrapping.
Sarah Mander
Sarah makes crochet and macrame necklaces, wall hangings and pot plant holders from recycled T-shirt yarn. You can find her Etsy store at Loop de Loop Creations.
Jacinta Legge-Wilkinson
Jacinta operates her business – Elske – from her studio at TACAS. She makes baby wear and bedding using organic cotton fabric. She also makes commuter bike wear.
Susana Rivas Vega
Susana is a visual artist. In 2018 she curated the exhibition ‘Hoodling’ at TACAS in Bell Street Mall. It showcased work from artists in TACAS and the Hood who share a passion for creative and sustainable artwork.
